Day One:
We arrived in Newark, NJ at 8am, and took a bus into the city. A red-eye flight and a 3-hour time difference meant no sleep for either one of us! But we were excited and we were freezing, so staying awake was not a problem. We wandered from our hotel to Times Square where we stopped by the Times Square Visitor's Center for an up-close look at "The Ball" that would be dropped at midnight on New Years Day. We also wrote our wishes for 2012 on little pieces of confetti that would be dropped with millions of other wishes on the crowds in Times Square. Very cool. Then we walked up through Central Park, which was just beautiful. We made our way to the American Museum of Natural History where we saw dinosaur bones, artifacts, and everything else you might remember from the movie A Night at the Museum. Completely exhausted, we trekked our way back toward the hotel, and decided to make one last stop at the Empire State Building. The view at night was stunning. Our feet were achy and we were hardly awake enough to make it back to the hotel, but somehow we did....day one was a brilliant success!
